IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? In which cases is it useful?
One of the most productive ways to limit the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of the people which mustn't be able to open it. There are numerous good reasons to do that. As an illustration, you may want a certain individual not to be able to see your website, or you can limit the access for a whole state. You can even block IP addresses in case you notice that there are lots of Internet browser requests from them, if a lot of spam comments are left in your Internet sites or if a script login page has been loaded numerous times. In any of these scenarios, the traffic is almost certainly fake and has been produced by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any suspicious IP address, to be on the safe side. That way, you'll also stay away from the prospect of your web server getting overloaded by a lot of fake requests.

IP Blocking in Shared Web Hosting
If you have a
shared web hosting account with us and you wish to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a rather simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do this is to log inside to your CP, to visit the IP Blocking section, to pick a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You simply won't have to do anything challenging if you'd like to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the same exact section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.

Our
semi-dedicated server accounts feature a quite simple-to-use IP blocking tool, which will allow you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your Internet sites with simplya couple of clicks and you won't have any problems to achieve that even if this is your first hosting account. When you visit the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you will simply have to choose the domain or subdomain you need from a drop-down list, then input the IP address inside a box which you'll see there and you will be all set. To restrict the access for an entire network, you must leave one or more octets blank.
