NS Records
Learn what NS records are, what's their role and why every single domain needs them so as to function properly.
The NS (Name Server) records of a domain point out which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Simply, the zone is the collection of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL in a browser, your PC asks the DNS servers globally where the domain address is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain must be retrieved. With this a browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain name is so that the latter is mapped to an IP and the web site content is requested from the right location, a mail relay server discovers which server takes care of the e-mails for the domain address (MX record) to ensure that a message can be sent to the right mailbox, and so forth. Any change of these sub-records is done through the company whose name servers are employed, so you can keep the web hosting and switch only your email provider for instance. Every Internet domain has no less than two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Shared Web Hosting
If you register a domain name inside a
shared web hosting account from our company, you are going to be able to handle its name servers easily. This is done through the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia hosting CP and with just a few mouse clicks you're going to be able to update the NS records of one or even numerous domain names at once, which could save you a lot of time and efforts in case you have a large number of domain names that you'd like to forward to an alternative provider. You can enter multiple name servers depending on how many the other company offers you. We also permit you to set up private name servers for every single domain name registered via our company and in contrast to many other providers we do not charge anything more for this service. The newly created NS records can be used to forward any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IPs you have used during the process, so each time you use our IPs for instance, all domains added to the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you invest in a
semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to manage the NS records of each domain address registered in it with ease. The Hepsia CP, which is basically an all-in-one tool for you to deal with everything relevant to your web presence, comes with a very simple and intuitive interface. The section where you will find all of your domain names is not an exception, so even if you have never had a domain address and a hosting account before, updating the name servers or entering additional ones won't take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. You will also be able to see with a glance what name servers each and every one of your domain addresses uses currently and if they are the ones needed to direct that domain to the semi-dedicated account. As an additional feature, we offer you the opportunity to create child name servers dns1/2.your-domain.com totally free. This will give more credibility to your website, particularly if it's a business one, and you may use these name servers for any other domain name that you would like to host inside the semi-dedicated account as well.
